Unfortunately the rocking horse at Wharf Lane is currently out of action due to damage and has had to be cordoned off. We have contacted playground inspection companies to act as swiftly as possible to arrange for repairs.

HAZARD - Unfortunately there was a significant amount of smashed glass found at the skate park this morning. Please be careful if you are visiting the Wharf Lane Recreation Ground. Our team and Streetwise have made our best efforts to clear. We will be reporting this to the police and will share any cctv footage of the culprits with the police.

We’re delighted to say that members of our Biodiversity and Environment Working group were at the Lily Ponds yesterday to welcome the return of our swans. As you can see from the photos they look overjoyed to be home. A massive thank you to Linjoy's Sanctuary and the other volunteers for all of their work in helping to get the swans clean, healthy and back where they belong.

Flooding update at Wharf Lane Recreation Ground ![]()
The Radcliffe on Trent Parish Council and a representative from Radcliffe Olympic FC met with engineers yesterday at the Wharf Lane to find out why the flooding has not cleared after six weeks. The engineers have confirmed that the water is natural rainwater rather than sewage, but believe it is currently not draining because of a blockage in an underground drainage pipe, known as a culvert. ![]()
Even though the River Trent has dropped, the water on our fields isn't moving, so we are working closely with Nottinghamshire County Council and we are waiting for Severn Trent to provide a map of the drainage systems. Once we have this map, we will need to carry out further investigation and will hopefully be able to identify exactly who is responsible for clearing the blockage so the land can finally dry out and be ready for football again.![]()
We have scheduled a meeting with Nottinghamshire County Council Flood Risk Management team to discuss next steps. The playgrounds remain open but we would strongly advise residents to avoid the flooded football pitch. ![]()
We will keep residents informed.

The Parish Council is aware of the flooding at Wharf Lane and is working with Nottinghamshire County Council and Severn Trent Water to resolve the issue. We have a meeting planned with Severn Trent next week and I have just spoken with the team who have advised that the waste network controller is reassessing the situation. Please do not enter the football field.

Radcliffe On Trent Swan Update -
We have been advised by the volunteers that our Radcliffe swans are recovering well and have been released into a fenced paddock to get back up to full strength before being released. The sanctuary are going to give us a call when they are ready - I have asked for a more recent picture and will share when we can.
