Accessibility Statement

Overview

This web site is designed to allow text access to the document’s procedures and proceedings of Radcliffe on Trent Parish Council and associated bodies and the local community.

This website is run by Radcliffe on Trent Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, to this end we aim to provide:

  • high contrast levels and accessible friendly fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is?

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  • Most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • Some of our online forms are difficult to navigate using just a keyboard
  • Some of the older images will not have ALT text
  • The Archive area of the web site has limited accessibility capabilities.

Non compliant documents

Some of our older PDFs and Word documents are retained for historical reasons. We do not intend to change their format due to cost implications.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix [any documents prior to 23rd September 2018, if a document is required please contact using the email provided].

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards where possible.

What we do to improve accessibility

The current accessibility status of this web site is being reviewed. We intend to make the required amendments by the end of 2026.

Feedback and Contact Information

If you need information on this website in a different format like an accessible PDF, large print, or easy read:

We will consider your request and get back to you within 15 working days.

Disproportionate burden

While we are assessing this website, we will look to fix as many navigation and display  issues as possible. However, historical documents will remain in their format and they would continue to fail accessibility rules.

We have assessed the cost of fixing the issues with navigation and accessing information, and with interactive tools and transactions. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment yearly and aim to provide all future correspondance in an accessible format.

We are only a small staff, changing historic documents would create a disproportionate burden. If you require a screen reader friendly copy of a document, please contact us.
