Notification: Change of status from Village to Town -Radcliffe on Trent

To whom it may concern,

Radcliffe-on-Trent Parish Council wishes to inform you that henceforth we will be considered a town rather than a village.
I am writing to formally notify you that at a meeting of the Full Council held on Tuesday 3rd February 2026, the Radcliffe-on-Trent Parish Council passed a resolution under Section 245(6) of the Local Government Act 1972 to change the status of the parish to a town. Effective from 3rd February 2026, the parish shall be known as Radcliffe-on-Trent, and the Council shall remain designated as the Radcliffe-on-Trent Parish Council.
This decision follows a period of public engagement which concluded on January 31st 2026. The Council sought to ensure that the transition reflected the will of the community and the current scale of the settlement.
Public Sentiment: A majority (52.3%) of respondents expressed a clear preference for the transition to town status, (488 responses). All official correspondence, signage, and digital platforms will remain the same as Radcliffe-on-Trent Parish Council. This change is a matter of status and does not alter the powers, duties, or geographical boundaries of the council. It is intended to more accurately reflect Radcliffe-on-Trent’s role as a key service centre and its growing population.

We kindly request that you update your records accordingly. Should you require any further documentation regarding the resolution or the consultation process, please do not hesitate to contact the Council offices.
